The Vocalise, originally composed for voice and piano, evokes a sense of loss and reminiscence in its orchestration. The five Etudes-Tableaux, originally composed for piano, sound unmistakably 20th-century in the orchestrations by Respighi. Conducted by Eiji Oue, the Minnesota Orchestra performs all of these works beautifully.
